Do you enjoy making people feel seen, supported, and at ease? As a Reception Volunteer, you’ll be the first friendly face our residents, families, and visitors see when they walk through the doors. Your warm welcome and helpful nature will set the tone for compassionate care and comfort. Be the first smile they see and join us as a Reception Volunteer at Oak Ridges Hospice.
What You’ll be doing:
- Greet visitors and answer calls with kindness and professionalism
- Provide helpful information and assist with directions
- Keep the reception area tidy and welcoming
- Support staff with communication and visitor coordination
- Complete administrative tasks such as data entry, emailing, photocopying etc.
What we are looking for:
- Friendly and welcoming
- Calm under pressure – you stay composed, even during busy or emotional moments
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable on the phone and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A great communicator – you speak clearly, listen actively, and engage with empathy

Time Commitment:
4 hours per week
Requirements:
- Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check
- 2 Reference Checks
- Completion of an 8 hour online training through HPCO
- Completion of Oak Ridges Hospice Orientation
- 2–3 peer-shadow shifts to support you as you get started
